Every film that got made was once a draft somebody fixed.

Stop polishing the same draft.
No more wondering why it won’t get made.
Turn your story into a script a producer will get behind, so you can start your dream career.

I have read over a thousand scripts and worked in film and television for 15+ years.
I started ScriptConsults.com to give writers the power to move their project forward, with a real conversation and clear guidance.
I read, we talk, you leave with a short list, in order, of what to do to get to the draft that makes sense as a movie.
And if it's closer than you think, I’ll tell you how to take the next step.
- Michael H.
“Alex walked me through how a producer and a director would read it. I made the changes and started sending it out. Three months later I got a writing job.”
- Ronnie T.
"I'd been sending the same draft out for two years and couldn't figure out why nothing came back. Alex found the problem in the first act. I rewrote the opening in a month, and it's the first draft I've been proud to send."
- Frank B.
“Why can’t I get my script made into a movie?”
You’ve spent weeks, months, or even years pitching your script, but you still don’t know what’s holding you back.
You can’t get it produced. You’ve lost sight of the bigger picture.
Most writers don’t need twenty pages of notes. They need a wake up call. What’s standing in the way of it getting a yes from a producer, director, actor, or financier?
Give your story the attention it deserves.
Get it ready to move forward with the help of an experienced consultant who will work with you one-on-one and give you a clear path to success.

I’ve sat in every seat and I know what each one is asking.
In one consult, I can tell you what matters to producers, directors, actors, financiers, distributors, agents, and managers so you can understand the bigger picture.
- How does it read from the perspective of someone who has read over a thousand scripts from working screenwriters and seen dozens of projects move from conception to production?
- Does it make sense as a movie?
- How will it translate to screen?

FEATURE FILM SCRIPT READ + 30 MINUTE CONSULTATION
$250
A focused call. Good for a general overview of a feature film script from all perspectives. Get broad strokes. Find out if your script makes sense as a movie. Good for identifying any major problems and getting guidance on how to address them.
If you have something specific you want considered during the reading: questions about character, a scene that isn't landing, a structural question, please note on the intake form.
FEATURE FILM SCRIPT READ + 60 MINUTE CONSULTATION
$350
A deeper working session. Enough time to talk through a full script, or work out a revision plan before your next draft. This is also where we talk strategy: what draft you actually have, and what it needs before it's ready for a producer, rep, a financier, or attachments.
STORY EDITING
ongoing, limited availability

FAQ
Is my script confidential? Yes. It's emailed to me confidentially, and neither the company nor any consultant claims any right to your material. Ever.
What if it's not the right fit? If I read your material and I'm not the right person for it, I'll tell you and refund the consult.
What if my script isn't ready yet? That's exactly what a call is for.
Do you help me find an agent, or sell my script? No. We're not in the access business. We're in the script business. But if your script is ready and we know someone who might be interested, we will ask you if we can pass it along.
This is my first screenplay. Is this for me? Yes. A lot of the writers I work with are on their first script. You don't need credits, an agent, or a film degree. You need a finished draft and a willingness to hear what isn't working yet.
I'm not in Los Angeles. Does that matter? No. Consults are over video and I work with writers all over the country. Where you live has never once changed what a script needs.
Do you read the whole script? Every page, every word, before we talk. That's the part you're paying for.
It’s time for a fresh perspective.
My name is Alex MacDonald. I am a producer, writer, director, and Canadian Screen Award-winning actor with 15+ years in the entertainment industry and more than 40 IMDb credits across film and television. I take a small number of consults each month, between projects.
I have worked on nearly every side of production: in front of the camera, behind it, in development, and in post-production. I write, direct, and produce through my production company Four Vultures, which I founded to house original narrative work. My first film project, MUSED, a dramatic thriller that I wrote, directed, and produced, premiered at the Academy Award and BAFTA qualifying film festival LA Shorts in 2025, screened at the HollyShorts Monthly Screening series in 2026, and was a semi-finalist at the Flickers Rhode Island Film Festival. My next project, Unit 118, is now in post-production ahead of its festival run, and our third film project, Queen of Hearts, is now in pre-production.
Most recently I was the Director of Development for DKZ Films, and on the production and development team at Rumiville Inc, which has produced content for HBO, Paramount, Fox, ABC, NBC, BET, and Amazon Prime, among others.
I won a Canadian Screen Award for Cardinal and picked up a second nomination for Mean Queen as an actor. My credits include the Netflix series What/If opposite Renée Zellweger, David Robert Mitchell's Under the Silver Lake (nominated for the Palme d'Or at Cannes), and the lead in the Lifetime pilot Cinnamon Girl, co-created by Renée Zellweger and directed by Gavin O'Connor. I held the lead in the Freeform pilot Misfits, played a series regular on the Canadian comedy Young Drunk Punk, and shared the screen with Jennifer Lawrence in House at the End of the Street. I worked with SAW Franchise's Darren Lynn Bousman, the SXSW-premiering Stage Fright, the Netflix animated series Pacific Rim: The Black, and the independent feature Art of a Hit.
I started working as a freelance script consultant and story editor with new and emerging writers through Stage 32, Roadmap Writers, and independently, and quickly found my passion with helping writers move forward into the next phase of their career by pushing them to revisit their material with impact and production in mind.
Many of my clients hired me to gain a working actor's perspective on their material. But they hire me again and again because I help them build a direct, clear-cut path to get the vision that's in their mind down on the page, and their script ready to land on the desk of someone who can get their movie made. I work with writers who are ready to move forward, who love writing, and are building a career. I can tell you if the script works, what it needs, and how to get it ready so you get one step closer to the career of your dreams.
